What is this scheme?

Under BIPP, the Government offers support to startups in partnership with industries for research in frontier futuristic technology areas.

Objectives

The Biotechnology Industry Partnership Programme (BIPP) is a government partnership with industries for support on a cost sharing basis for research in frontier futuristic technology areas. It is focused on IP creation with ownership retained by Indian industry and wherever relevant, by collaborating scientists.

Who can apply (eligibility)

  • Single company or consortia of companies incorporated under the Companies Act, 2013; or Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) incorporated under the Limited Liability Partnership Act, 2008, jointly with or without the following:
  • Public/private university/colleges in India
  • National research laboratories
  • Not-for-profit private research labs/societies/foundation/NGO

What do you get?

  • One time grant-in-aid (subject to a maximum of ₹50 lakh) is provided by BIRAC to those startups which have not received grant-in-aid under any scheme of BIRAC in past.
  • If the startup has received funding from BIRAC before, BIRAC contribution will be restricted to a maximum of 70% of the total budget of the respective entity (Minimum 30% of the total budget will be contributed by the respective Company.
